A Psychodynamic Approach to Therapy

Emotional distress can emerge in many forms and at different points in life. At times, these experiences can feel confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to make sense of alone. If this is something you’re going through, having a reliable space to reflect with an attentive professional can offer clarity and the possibility of change.

Alicia Shevlin is a Melbourne-based psychologist in private practice, offering psychodynamic therapy via telehealth. Her work involves helping people explore their inner experiences, emotional patterns, and relationships within a supportive therapeutic environment.

Therapy is confidential and conducted in a warm and non-judgemental manner, with the aim of supporting deeper understanding and meaningful change over time. This website provides an overview of Alicia’s practice and how she may be able to support you.

About Alicia Shevlin

Alicia (she/her) is a registered psychologist based in Melbourne. She completed a Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical Psychology) at Victoria University and provides telehealth psychotherapy to adults across Australia. Her therapeutic work is primarily grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Training at Victoria University emphasised an integrative approach that extended beyond cognitive behavioural therapy, incorporating psychodynamic thinking alongside other therapeutic modalities. This foundation continues to shape Alicia’s clinical work, supporting an approach that helps people develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their broader life experiences.

Alicia enjoys working with adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, stress, eating disorders, concerns about pornography use, addiction or problematic substance use, anger, and concerns related to identity, self-esteem, or sexuality.
